Dear Amir
Thank you for your email of 3 January 2004.
It is ABC practice to refer to this area as the Persian Gulf. ABC reporters
and producers have been reminded of the correct terminology.
The ABC regrets this error.
Yours sincerely

Dear editor @ the ABC,
In reference to your article "US claims Al Qaeda drug bust in
Arabian
Gulf http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/s1019597.htm I am deeply
disappointed to see that a credible news organization such as you has
used the wrongful name "Arabian Gulf" to refer to the historic
and correct
name "Persian Gulf". You are indeed in violation of international
norms and
standards in this matter.
Please be advised that using the terms "Arabian Gulf" and
"Gulf" follows
the path of revisionists such as Saddam Hussein who only tried to acquire
identity and self interests by encouraging others to use these bogus
names. I hope your news organization understands this fact and prevents
future errors in its reports and articles.
