Reservists due back from Persian Gulf

About 350 Navy and Coast Guard reservists from the San Diego-based Naval Coastal Warfare Group One are scheduled to return home today after nine months of duty in the Persian Gulf.

The group consists of members of Inshore Boat Unit 16 from Seal Beach as well as two squadrons from Washington state. The reservists are set to arrive at North Island Naval Air Station in the morning.

While in the Middle East, they helped to protect the shipment of military supplies through Persian Gulf ports and guarded strategic assets in Kuwait, the Navy said.
